Kunstmeile Krems
The Kunstmeile Krems (Art Mile Krems) has a rich and varied cultural offer with numerous museums, galleries and art festivals. Over a stretch of one mile, leading from the Minoritenkirche to the Dominikanerkirche, the Kunstmeile Krems combines various encounters with art and culture at the Kunsthalle Krems, the State Gallery of Lower Austria, the Caricature Museum Krems, the Forum Frohner, ARTOTHEK Niederösterreich or the programs realised by the international exchange program AIR - ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Lower Austria.
Krems is a World Heritage city in Austria with a history going back more than a thousand years. Situated right next to the river Danube, Krems is the gateway to the Wachau Valley, one of Europe’s most famous river landscapes, well known for being UNESCO World Heritage cultural landscape as well as its wine and apricots. Besides its long history and striking landscape surroundings, Krems is also known for its vibrant contemporary art and culture. The various exhibitions, events and festivals give visitors an opportunity to enjoy all facets of art: from significant Austrian and international positions of modern and contemporary art to Austria’s unique museum for caricature and cartoon art.
